Recognizing the challenges

A common challenge with an enterprise ERP solution is determining how it will communicate with other software solutions that are helping to run your business.  IFS is developing a series of Integration Accelerators that are built on the Boomi Integration Platform.  These accelerators are reference integrations between IFS Cloud and a 3rd party system.  They use existing connectors available in Boomi and address many of the common integration challenges (e.g., authentication, error handling, and data mapping). Customers can easily customize and expand accelerators through configuration on the Boomi platform, enabling efficient integration and faster value delivery.

How can IFS help tackle those challenges?

The accelerators provide business value immediately for at least one well-defined high-value business process.  In the case of our IFS Cloud to Salesforce Accelerator, we have created an entire process for handling the lead-to-cash scenario.  A common scenario is where a field technician captures a sales lead using their IFS Cloud Mobile Work Order application.  That lead is then sent directly to Salesforce where the internal sales team will follow up on the lead turning the opportunity into a sale.  Once the sale is complete, a work order is created in IFS Cloud.

What can you expect from an IFS Cloud Integration Accelerator?

When a customer receives an IFS Cloud Integration Accelerator, they receive:

  • A Boomi Integration Platform export file that is be imported into the customer’s Boomi Integration Platform environment. The export file contains the connectors, mappings, processes, and other configurations required to perform the integration.  Once the file is imported you can begin configuring the specific details for your environment necessary to perform the integration between the two systems.
  • A connection guidance document with details on how to configure the connections in Boomi between IFS Cloud and the third-party application.  This document provides step by step instructions on how to configure IFS Cloud and the third-party solution to provide outbound messages that can be used by Boomi to provide real-time updates to both solutions.  It also provides instructions for configuring the Boomi connectors to communicate with the solutions in your environment.
  • A detailed mapping document of the data entities between IFS Cloud and the third-party application.

How does it work?

Being able to see how the integration is developed using the Boomi Integration Platform tools provides an excellent example for extending the integration to fill even more integration needs.  The example can also assist in building more integrations using IFS Cloud and Boomi.  The detailed documentation is a how-to guide on using Boomi and IFS Cloud to do complex integrations.

The Boomi platform offers low-code integration that doesn’t require a developer in keeping with the IFS low-code, no-code approach. An easy-to-use workflow interface allows team members to use a graphical drag-and-drop interface to extend the integrations using the connectors.

Using the accelerators, IFS customers can quickly build complex integrations, reducing development time by weeks or months. Shortened project timelines and optimized IT resources result in faster time to value and improved predictability of integration implementations.
