Get to know: Ayman Tohami, Senior Presales Consultant, in our latest installment of Employee Spotlight!

Location: Cologne, Germany
Team: Service Management
How long have you been at IFS: 3 months

What brought you to IFS?

After graduating with a specialization in business information, I’ve worked in various roles in the IT/Telco industry. This included sales, presales and delivery roles at SAP, ServiceMax and
an SAP Partner. I joined IFS because of the diverse functionality our products offer and I’d heard amazing things about the people who make up #TeamPurple.

What’s the most exciting part about your job?

As a Senior Presales Architect, I work closely with Business Architects to identify our prospects objectives, and together we deliver a demo of our solution drawing on the value it will provide to their organization. I thoroughly enjoy the discussions we have with our prospects & customers as every story is unique, and different in its own way.

What has been your favorite moment at IFS so far?

I’ve only been at IFS a few months, but the support that my colleagues have provided in times of need has truly been outstanding. They continue to go above and beyond and really live our core values.

What 3 words would you use to describe IFS?

Value. Product. Dedication.

Where’s the first place you’ll travel after travel restrictions are lifted in your country?

Without a doubt I would visit Koh Lipe, a beautiful island in Thailand, close to the Malaysian border.  When I lived in Malaysia, I used to hop on the bus to Koh Lipe almost every weekend to relax in the sun by the sea.

If you could do another job at IFS for a day, what would it be?

I work really closely with Business Architects daily and I can see myself in that role at some point in the future – so I would really love to give it a try for a day.

Where is your favorite place to eat in your hometown?

Hands down it would be Reef n’ Beef Steakhouse, a new steak house in the city centre of Cologne. My eating behavior is 80% vegetarian on a regular day, so when I eat meat it has to be sustainable and of a really high quality. This restaurant ticks that box for me – the surf and turf is my favorite dish there.

What book did you read last?

Great Demo! By Peter E. Cohen – I love reading books of all genres, but this one in particular is related to work. It’s about addressing the challenges of creating and delivering compelling software demonstrations. For me, it uncovered new innovative ways to deliver and prepare for a demo. I highly recommend this book to anyone in Presales, it’s a real eye-opener.

What’s your secret talent?

Cooking. I’ve actually owned a few restaurants previously. A sushi bar, a Japanese ramen restaurant and most recently a vegan Middle Eastern restaurant. I love to cook Middle Eastern cuisine, particularly Egyptian and Israeli/Palestinian dishes. Don’t ask me to pick a dish though, it’s too hard for a foodie!

Where is your happy place in the city where you live?

My favorite place is Poller Wiesen, a park in the city of Cologne, situated by the Rhine River. I enjoy running by the river or relaxing on a bench to switch off.

Name one person at IFS that inspires you and why?

That’s not an easy one – but I think it would be Thomas Heckmann as he is a true domain expert in Field Service Management who really understands sales and presales activities. He’s always keen to help, sharing his knowledge and experience, which is invaluable to me.
