When I summarize 2012, it’s no doubt that the IFS World Conference was an event that released lots of energy and inspiration. All of us who were involved in organizing this major, important event are, of course, pleased with the positive feedback from the attendees: customers, journalist, analysts, partners and colleagues. I hope to see you all again at World Conference 2013 in Barcelona.

Seeing the results of the post-conference survey, I am pleased, but not surprised, by the activity that got the most positive response. It was the Meet the Expert area. Dear R&D colleagues, feel proud as your contribution to a successful conference is crystal clear.

In Meet the Expert area, conference visitors could meet and greet with the people behind IFS Applications. They could talk to Jacqueline and Johnny, Product Solution Managers for Project and Service & Asset solutions in IFS Applications. They demonstrated the news in project cash flow, and budgeting and forecasting or the new sub-contracting solution in our latest release, IFS Applications 8. Visitors could experience IFS mobile solutions together with Shaun and James and try the new work order solution on Android and IFS’ latest business apps. Customers could also meet with the founders of companies acquired by IFS; Laurent at IFS 360 Scheduling and Larry at IFS Metrix.

Worth mentioning, too, is the highly appreciated partner exhibition area where partners demonstrated edgy solutions and fruitful implementations.

It’s not only customers who appreciate these instant meetings. Getting positive feedback from visitors when you sometimes have worked literally day and night to get products ready for release is of course very satisfying. Seeing a smile on their faces when customers try a new solution they need to sharpen their competitive edge is also a great feeling. During these meetings, you also get lots of input for further improvements, and active customers utilize this opportunity to get to know the decision makers at IFS.

Let me also reveal the number one activity at the conference; the Dinner and Entertainment on Monday evening. When great friends get together with great food and drinks topped with world-class music from SAS All Star Band, anything can happen. Personally I will never ever forget this evening where Jesper Alwall and I got the opportunity to play Route 66 together with Roger and Spike from Queen and guitarist Jamie Moses. So listen up now—I guarantee topnotch entertainment at IFS World Conference 2013 in Barcelona too. I hope to see you there!

This is my last post this year and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2013.
