The People Behind IFS Cloud is a blog series meant to surface stories of the amazing individuals behind IFS Cloud.
From developers and engineers to marketers, every week we’ll get to the heart of the team behind the launch of IFS Cloud so you can get to know them a little better and find out what makes them tick!
This week meet Roashani Dias, Senior Software Engineer at IFS. Roshani has been with IFS for more than three years and is based out of our office in Colombo, Sri Lanka. While Roshani isn’t working she enjoys wildlife photography and astrophotography. Recently, Roshani has been involved in building the IFS Remote Assistance capability within IFS Cloud. In this blog post, Roshani will share with us what it was like to work on IFS Cloud.
Let’s learn more about her.
Tell us about your role and your main responsibilities regarding IFS Cloud.
IFS Remote Assistance is another successful project that emerged from IFS Labs. My role and main responsibilities involved bringing merged reality and real-time collaboration into IFS Cloud, by formulating, incubating, and integrating IFS Remote Assistance.
For those that aren’t familiar, what is IFS Labs?
IFS Labs is where IFS drives innovation and new technology incubation. Our focus is on adding value to the business by combining disruptive technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), IoT and robotics.
Why is the work of IFS Labs important?
With the rapid change of technology, enterprise software solutions need to be innovative to provide customers the right technology at the right time. Before adding new technologies into the product, IFS Labs always validates the use case and works closely with customers to combine the industrial experience with our technical expertise. Therefore, IFS Labs helps IFS to become an industry-leading enterprise software provider in our focused industries. This is apparent with the release of IFS Cloud.
Great point! What has you most excited about IFS Cloud?
That’s easy! IFS Remote Assistance. It’s very exciting to see how IFS Remote Assistance helps our customers to continue their businesses by enabling them to collaborate across the world even during a global pandemic.
Tell us, what was your favorite part about working on IFS Cloud?
Good question. I would say investigating real-world problems and applying our knowledge and expertise to solve them. It was my favorite part and it was also rewarding.
In your opinion, what makes IFS Cloud a gamechanger for our customers?
IFS Cloud is one common platform for all the capabilities such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), enterprise asset management (EAM) and service management. This means that customers can expand their business by adding new capabilities whenever they need. That’s a true gamechanger!
If you were a business, why would you deploy IFS Cloud compared to other solutions/products on the market?
There are plenty of best-of-breed offerings out there for each application area, but they have quickly become hard to integrate.
IFS Cloud eliminates the hassle of integration and updating by offering a common experience on a common platform with a common data model along with a single update process.
Before we close, what would you like to see IFS Labs explore next?
Computer vision embedded AR Cloud.
AR Cloud is a machine-readable 3D digital copy of the real world that continuously updated in real-time. Computer vision embedded AR cloud can instantly identify correct parts in a large indoor industrial plant and enhances information by visualizing specific part and location-based data. It’s very interesting.
Thank you to Roshani for taking the time to discuss her role in creating IFS Cloud.
