I don’t know if you’re familiar with Dragon’s Den, a reality television series featuring entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas to multi-millionaires willing to invest their own cash. We used that concept at our R&D event last week—and the result was 60 ideas in 2 hours. Do you want to know how?
At the IFS R&D Fall Event last week in Tanumstrand on the west coast of Sweden, 200 R&D staff competed to come up with the best new software innovations for IFS Applications. In two hours, 20 groups generated 60 new ideas for how to improve usability, functionality and productivity. Five finalists were selected to present to the dragons—and I was one of dragons.
The five finalists got a few minutes to sell the idea to the dragons and we followed up with questions about time to market, originality, value and realization (please read more about idea evaluation in previous post).
There was a winner with a fantastic innovation…but I can’t reveal it here and now. It will remain confidential until it’s about to launched in our software, and you will notice it ;-)
So, at you next event, set up a Dragon’s Den and boost your employees creativity – while having great fun.
